Before departing for a business trip in the Philippines, Lui Wai-leung announces to his relatives and friends his engagement to his girlfriend, Luk Sheung-hing. His good friend, Li On-ling, feels sad because he has a secret love for Hing. Leung is missing in a shipwreck and he is thought to be dead. Hing and Ling become a couple under the persuasion of Ling and Hing's brother. Though Hing is married to Ling, she still struggles to forget Leung. Hing rarely laughs after getting married.
