Biographie |

Originaire du comté de Baoan dans la province de Guangdong, Cheng Chun-mien fut d'abord acteur de théâtre puis il travailla à la radio. En 1936, Cheng a fait ses débuts dans "The Three-Day Massacre in Guangzhou" à Guangzhou. Au cours de sa longue carrière de plus d'un demi-siècle, il a tourné plus de 200 films, la plupart en cantonais.
Habile imitateur de chanteurs aussi bien d'Asie que d'Occident, Cheng a signé de nombreux albums, a joué dans de nombreux opéra cantonais et comédies musicales. Il btenut même le surnom d'"Elvis Presley de l'Est".
Dans les années 70, il est devenu l'animateur de la fameuse émission de variétés "Enjoy Yourself Tonight", et fit quelques apparitions dans des films.
Il est décédé en 1995.
