This is a story about growing up--a boy's growing up with a city. As the story goes, we witness Sing-Ball's birth at a time when Hong Kong's status quo as a city-state in the developed world was in its infancy itself. Sometimes, Sing-Ball has to depend upon his relaxes and intuitions and occasional escapes into fantasyland to negotiate with the ever-changing world around him. Among some of his emotional indentations within that pivotal term are the see-sawing friendship with an ugly-duckling teen-swan childhood girlfriend, the losing of his best buddy to a girl, the death of an adversary-turned-mentor, and an unrequited puppy love for a wide-eyed fairy-like tenant who breezes through his heart.
