The majority of martial arts films take place under the Manchu occupation, the Qing dynasty which lasted from the fall of the Ming in 1664 to the founding of the Chinese Republic in 1912. However, it must be known that before there was the Song dynasty founded in 960, fallen twice into the hands of the Mongolians in 1150 for the Northern half of the country, and in 1279 for the South.
