Né en 1951, Marco Mak commença sa carrière en 1965 dans un laboratoire photo de Hong Kong. Après 5 années de dur labeur, il se lance dans le montage de films.
Monteur et associé de Tsui Hark depuis un bon moment, il est passé à la réalisation en l'an 2000.
Il a été nommé plus de 10 fois aux HK Awards, et gagna même 2 récompenses de meilleur monteur.
