Bona International Film Group is a champion player in the China film industry, with solid financial backing and fully integrated subsidiaries encompassing film distribution, film production, international film sales, cineplex investment and management, film advertising and talent management.
Its subsidiary, PolyBona Film Distribution Co., Ltd. has grown to be a domestic leader in film distribution. Originally founded in 1999, the company has distributed more than 150 foreign and domestic films, generating box office revenue in excess of RMB 1.5 billion and consistently capturing over 20% of the overall market share yearly in just nine years of growth. Its CEO Yu Dong was elected as one of "the most influential film practitioners in the future" by The Hollywood Reporter in November, 2006. In early 2007, PolyBona became the first privately-owned film company in China in securing international private funds, having successfully closed investments from Sequoia Capital China and SIG Asia Investments.
Since 2005, BIFG has expanded into every aspect of the industry chain, including building 5-star luxurious multiplexes across China, and delivering innovative and effective film advertisement. The Group also ventured into talent management with Bona Yinglong, a joint venture with Hong Kong's Emperor Entertainment Group and international superstar Jackie Chan. BIFG also formed its international sales arm, Distribution Workshop, with veterans Nansun Shi and Jeffrey Chan in 2008.
Cinema Popular is BIFG's latest venture with Hong Kong's award-winning producer/director Peter Chan Ho Sun and esteemed Mainland producer/director Huang Jianxin. It signals the Group's determination in bringing more commercial Chinese blockbusters to the exploding China market as well as audience worldwide.
Through partnership and alliance, BIFG seeks to aggregate the best resources in the Chinese film industry and to be at the forefront of the global entertainment arena.
