Biography

A distinguished filmmaker who excels in both scriptwriting and directing, Chin was a poet beforehand and had won a poetry award for his brilliant work Qi. He then moved to Italy to concentrate on film studies.

In 1969, Chin co-wrote Teddy Girls with Lin Nian-tong and became the first Hong Kong film on female juvenile delinquency. He then co-wrote the terrifying classic The Imp with Li Deng and Chang Jin-man, which is still regarded as “the best horror film in Hong Kong”.

Another Chin’s signature work is the polemic Nomad. With its no-holds-barred sex scenes, it stunned the audience and earned Chin a Best Screenplay nomination at the 2nd Hong Kong Film Awards.

In addition to writing screenplays, Chin also worked as the director of a Shaw Brothers movie Pale Passion in 1984.
