Biography

One of Korea’s most respected filmmakers, Chin Chu-yung made his directorial debut with Henpecked Husband and forty years later directed his 109th feature, Scent Of Love. Films like Seashore Village, Flames In The Valley, and Night Voyage are considered classics of Korean cinema, and Chin won a Best Director award for The Foggy Town.

In the early 1970’s he was recruited by Shaw Brothers to work with two of the studio’s biggest actresses, Li Ching in The Merry Wife and Lily Ho in Flower In The Rain.

A retrospective of Chin’s films was held at the 2002 Pusan International Film Festival, where the 73-year-old maestro spoke of plans for his 110th production.
