Biography

Having spent more than 30 years in the entertainment industry acquiring vast experience in content by moving between a variety of roles; Executive Producer, Producer, Director –Sampson Yuen is recognized as a key player in the regional broadcast industry.
Starting out in Hong Kong with the 2 giants; TVB & ATV he honed his skills in the dynamic Hong Kong media scene for 15 years garnering a prestigious New York TV Festival Award (Drama series category) for Who Is The Winner I 胜者为王I (1993); before moving to Singapore where he jointly set up SPH Mediaworks which won an impressive double award Broadcaster of the Year and Terrestrial Channel of the Year 2002.
For a decade he worked in Singapore powering multiple award-winning shows notably Unbeatable 2 双天至尊II (Star Award for Most Popular Series, 1997) for TCS, Medical File 2 医生档案II (Star Award for Most Popular Series, 1999) for MediaCorp Studios, Cash Is King 胜卷在握 (Best Drama, Original Song 2002) for Channel U, Tonight I Will Tell - Murder by Love 人生导火线: 生死一线 (New York TV Festival Distinction Finalist Award Winner in Single Drama category 2004).

In 2007 Sampson moved to Malaysia and spearheaded the extremely successful Ah Long Pte Ltd 老师嫁老大. Film taking in an impressive SG$5 million at combined box offices of Malaysia & Singapore making it the highest grossing Chinese movie in the country. Following on that wave he produced The Wedding Game 大喜事 which won the Best Comedy Award at the World Comedy Film Festival.

Cementing his mark in television were the two hugely successful period dramas; Age of Glory 情牵南苑 (780,000 viewers on ntv7, 2008) and The Iron Lady 女头家 (900,000 viewers on ntv7, 2009) – both being the highest rated shows for ntv7’s Hong belt and contributing to a whopping 53% share of Chinese audience for the channel. In 2010, The Iron Lady sweeps 5 awards in Malaysia 1st Golden Award which are Best Drama, Most Popular Drama, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Drama Theme Song. His latest production is A Time to Embrace追影。筑梦(8tv) - Best Rating of Chinese Drama in 8tv, All Within Four Seas家.缘 (Astro HHD) - First Hokkien Drama in South East Asia and The Descendant香火(ntv7)。
