Biography

Allen Fung has been in the film and home entertainment industry for over two decades. He graduated from Mohawk College, Canada in Communication Arts and completed further studies at Southern Methodist University, Texas, USA majoring in Cinema. He started working as a cameraman and producer, producing documentaries for the Global Television Network in Canada.

On returning to Hong Kong, Fung took up the post of Executive Producer at The Radio Television Hong Kong where he was responsible for dramas dealing with subject matters such as the social unrest in Hong Kong Programs such as "Below The Lion Rock" earned global recognition, winning awards from Chicago Film Festival and London Film Festival.

In the mid-eighties, Fung joined the legendary Shaw Brothers Studios as Creative Director and Executive Producer, where he produced a string of commercial and critically successful pictures. He then proceeded to set up his own film company City Films in 1985 in which his responsibilities included financing and producing feature films. In 1992 he founded Panorama Entertainment and transformed it into one of the most prominent films, music and video distribution companies in the Far East.

Fung was one of the founding members of the Hong Kong Film Director's Guild from 1984 to 1994, and he also served as an advisor at the Hong Kong Film Advisory Board from 1995 to 1998, as well as the Hong Kong film archive honorary advisor from 1993 to 1996.

In 2000, Fung founded Applause Pictures with Hong Kong filmmakers Peter Chan and Teddy Chen, Asia's first film venture dedicated to serving the emerging pan-Asian film market. Fung has served as Executive Producer on JAN DARA and ONE FINE SPRING DAY.
