Yau Tsim Mong District – Back on the Mainland, this district is a very populated area with Mongkok making it to the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest population density in the world. The waterfront, tourist centres, the old commercial and residential developments provide all kind of styles of locations possible for filmmakers with projects involving the grass roots. From crowded street under ugly concrety facades to packed residential structures, passing by quaint shops and eateries. Director Johnnie To has set many of his crime flicks in the area (Election, PTU, Breaking News).

Info on the district can be found on the Home Affairs Department website. (Map of the area)

The Diocesan Boys' School /

new

Location: 131 Argyle Street, Mong Kok
Film: Echoes Of The Rainbow 歲月神偷 (2010) / Alex Law 羅啟銳

(Diocesan School and
Orphanage)、拔萃男書室(Diocesan Boys' School and Orphanage)。
電影《歲月神偷》(Echoes Of The Rainbow) 的導演羅啟銳 (Alex Law) 也出身自男

The Diocesan Boys' School, a traditional elite school in Hong Kong, was established in 1869. The school was initially located in Bonham Road, Hong Kong Island and moved in 1926 to its present site in Mong Kok. The school students are known to have outstanding performance in various fields such as studies, sports or music. Many officials, businessmen and celebrities have graduated from this school. Sun Yat-sen had studied here shortly in 1883.
The director of Echoes of the Rainbow (Alex Law) is also a graduate of the Diocesan Boys' School. Some scenes in his semi-autobiographic film were shot here. Many extras in the film are actually real teachers and students from the school.

Hung Wan Café /

new

Location: 726 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong

Simon Yam)
(黑社會2之以和為貴 / Election 2),從樓梯上目見兒子與另一字頭的古惑仔為伍;

Hung Wan Cafe is a typical Hong Kong café located in Shanghai Street in the Prince Edward area. It has an interior decoration reminiscent of less modern times in HK, in particular a wooden staircase.
In Election 2, Lam Lok (Simon Yam) sees his son mingles with rascals of another gang from this staircase.
The fragrance of the custard pie in the cafe also reminds people of the enchanting Custard Prince (Stephen Chow) from The Lucky Guy.
