Five bandits have ganged up to go on a crime spree, but four of them walk squarely into an ambush laid down by the authorities immediately following the departure of the guilt-stricken second bandit Shang Ming. With one leg hacked off, the youngest of the pack Xiahou Yuan emerges from prison after more than a decade with vengeance, slaying the assumed traitor Ming and wife. Witnessing the slaughter, Yuan's bitter foe Han Zhengyang leaves a one-legged flour figurine implicating Yuan in the murder, the clue duly picked up by Ming's son Zhen, who starts a feud with Yuan's daughter Yunying and her senior Ding Yibiao in foiling their heist of a silver bullion delivery. Han comes to the rescue of Zhen shoved down a cliff during the confrontation with his nemesis, and comes face-to-face with the pursuing Yunying, his natural daughter. Though gripped by a fierce desire to avenge her mother's death, Yunying cannot bring herself to kill the man who has raised her as his daughter. Zhen steps in and releases her from her agony by slaying the murderer.
