Plot |
 |
This allegorical movie is a parody of the 1997 Hong Kong takeover by China. There are essentially two themes running in this movie, 1) the battle between the two bodyguards Dai Kin (Big Shirt) (Michael Chow) and Luk Got (Eric Kot). The other theme revolves around An-Sin, Martin, and Secretary Lao, who represent China and Hong Kong. (Their Chinese names in the movie closely resemble leaders from both China and Hong Kong back in 1996). Yam Kim Fai (funnyman and opera singer Law Kar Ying) is a cook at a Chinese restaurant in England who is handpicked to be the puppet lame duck last governor of Hong Kong before the takeover. Also stars Chingmy Yau as Luk Got's wife and close friend of Dai Kin. |
